It is an awful illusion that someone will love us for no reason in particular. This someone needs warmth, food, attention, obedience, challenge, interest, admiration and plenty of other things. And (s)he will start looking for them in a different place if (s)he does not find (or stop finding) them with us. Relations are continual work.
