Isn’t it curious that closeness is opposite to dependence, though both of them bind people the same way? So why are they opposite? They are opposite because closeness is maintained by openness (there is always information when, where and who with your dear is); dependence is maintained by lack of information meant at stimulating interest (“I had no possibility to”, “I was meeting somebody”). The former is over-soothing, the latter is too irritating, that is why it is better to alternate both ways of behavior favoring openness. But don’t call it lies, call it a game. Lie is fear, game is art.
